Adults can get gender-affirming treatment including hormones, hormone blockers, surgical referrals and more at Planned Parenthood, or Golden Valley Health Centers. Make an appointment for transgender care. All insurances accepted, and sliding scale available.

Gender affirming surgery

Your primary care provider at Golden Valley Health Centers, Planned Parenthood, or Student Health Services at UC Merced (for active students only), can refer you for gender affirming surgery. You should first ask your primary care provider for a referral.

Below is a list of places your provider may refer you to, based on your insurance. Ask your provider if you are interested in a specific surgeon, though not all surgeons may take your insurance.

Help changing name and gender

LGBTQ Merced

Changing your name and gender is relatively easy in California. Download this packet, fill out all the forms, make copies, and go to the new Merced County Courthouse building on N Street, and find the Self Help Center to double check you have everything you need to file for a court order. Follow the next steps as the Self Help Center instructs you.

Safe and Affirmative Counseling provides gender-affirming mental health care, including writing letters of support for hormones and surgery. They have virtual appointments, and take Medi-Cal Alliance.
